A councillor who allowed a convicted rapist to drive a city taxi says there is “little point” resigning as it would be a waste of taxpayers’ money.
Councillor Stuart Burke made the claim at last night’s full council meeting when he was asked to resign by a member of the public.
If the Lib Dem was to resign before the second week of November, a by-election for his Emerson Valley ward seat would be held.
Mr Burke said he had “no intention” of resigning as he is up for re-election in six months anyway.
