Five-time Olympic champion Sir Steve Redgrave made a golden visit to Southwood School in Conniburrow to talk about the importance of exercise and sports participation.
And he strengthened that point by joining in with the pupils’ sports activities including relay, triple jump and miniature hurdles.
The visit was part of the Matalan Sporting Promise which has partnered with the Youth Sport Trust to support the delivery of PE and sport in primary and secondary schools.
Sir Steve said: “Most children at this age will try anything but some develop differently. It’s nice that they can be introduced into different things like ultimate frisbee and dodgeball, it takes the stigma away and children develop a better skill base, even the non-sporty types.”
