All of this can be yours, after Santander and netbike launched the Santander Cycles MK scheme on Friday.

The first raft sees 300 bikes available to hire at 40 docking stations, with users able to take advantage of Milton Keynes’ 169.3-mile Redway cycle network.

A similar scheme has proved a success in London.

“We know from our experience of Santander Cycles in London that a cycle hire scheme provides mobility to more people so they can embrace the opportunities around them that could shape their future,” said Keith Moore, chief marketing officer for Santander UK.

“And it does it in an accessible, healthy and socially responsible way.”

Anyone can hire up to four of the vehicles at any time, either by using the bike’s computer or calling 020 8166 9851.

And registering with the Milton Keynes scheme allows cyclists to rent cycles from sister projects in 14 countries worldwide.
