Video: Worrying stats about self defence

New research released by Confused.com reveals that more than half of Brits keep self-defence objects in their home in case of a break in - a bat (16 per cent), a hammer (12 per cent) or a knife (12 per cent).

One in 10 keep a pot or a pan handy (10 per cent) whilst 18 per cent admitted keeping a dog as a deterrent for burglars.

Worryingly, the fear of crime seems to be backed up by the research which shows that three in 10 people in the UK have been a victim of burglary with 39 per cent of people being at home at the time of the crime.
