VIDEO: Cooking on volcanic rock at Moltens
A unique new dining experience has opened at the Mercure hotel in Two Mile Ash.
New restaurant Moltens offers diners the experience of cooking for themselves on a sizzling volcanic rock, pre-heated to 440°C in a special oven. The dish continues to cook at the table with diners able to choose themselves, according to their own personal preference, how long to cook it for.
Diners can choose from a selection of beef steaks of varying cuts, pork loin, chicken, king prawns and fresh tuna which are served with tempting sides of salads, dips, chips and vegetables. The vegetarian options will include stuffed flat mushrooms, vegetable and haloumi cheese brochettes, and stuffed Moroccan couscous peppers.
General Manager Jon Kett-Reynolds said: “Customer feedback has been very positive with guests saying the food is fresh and flavoursome, and the experience fun. In time we will introduce more speciality meats such as ostrich, water buffalo and venison, but at the moment steaks are proving to be the most popular option.”
