A charity founder who works with the Association of Young People with ME met the Queen last Wednesday.

Jill Moss was invited to a reception at St James’ Palace hosted by the monarch and the Duke of Edinburgh after being awarded a special Diamond Jubilee Award for Volunteering – one of 60 given to celebrate the anniversary of Queen’s coronation.

Jill said: “It was a real milestone to have recognition of all the hard work and shake hands with the Queen.

“Her warm smile and sparkling blue eyes made all my nerves about meeting her disappear instantly. I just wish that all the hundreds of our volunteers over the years could have been at the Palace with me.”
