A 12-year-old girl killed as she crossed a dual carriageway was a “vibrant young student who embraced life at school”.

Neesha-Leigh Dundon, a Year 8 pupil at Stantonbury Campus, was knocked down on V8 Marlborough Street, near Netherfield yesterday evening.

In a joint statement from Stantonbury Campus and Stephenson & Bridge Academies, a spokesman said it was with “great sadness” that they received the tragic news this morning.

He said: “Neesha-Leigh Dundon was a vibrant young student who embraced life at school and particularly enjoyed her music and drama.

“She had a good sense of friendship and would always see the good in people.

“We will miss her smiles and laughter.

“Our thoughts are with family and friends at this very difficult time.”

Bridge South site has been closed to students today, while students there and at Stantonbury Campus are being offered support and counselling.

Although no plans have yet been put in place, teaching staff are planning to commemorate Neesha-Leigh in the near future.
