Woburn Fire Station invites residents to '˜find out more' about firefighting

Woburn Fire Station is inviting local residents to pop into the station on Saturday (February 25) for a coffee and to find out more about the Fire Service and becoming a firefighter.

“Everyone is welcome to come along and meet the crew and find out more about the service and becoming an on-call Firefighter, including men, women and people from ethnic minority communities,” said station commander Andy Horner.

“This is an ideal opportunity to find out more about a challenging job with flexible hours. Our on-call Firefighters only need be available when they want to be so it’s a great way to look at a career that also serves your community.”

The coffee morning will be held from 10am to 12 noon and will give visitors the chance to:

Meet local and female firefighters

Learn about fire safety

Have an informal chat

Learn more about your community fire station.

To be an on-call firefighter you need to have good verbal communications skills, enjoy team working, be physically fit, and be able to get to the fire station within five minutes of being called.
