A 75-year-old woman has been charged with murdering her 83-year-old husband while he was dying of leukaemia.
Sheila Sampford appeared at Milton Keynes Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday and was remanded in custody to a female prison.
The pensioner, described as an “unassuming and devoted wife” was arrested three months ago after police found the body of her husband John at their home in Spoonley Wood, Bancroft Park.
The couple had been married for 50 years.
Police say retired coach-painter Mr Sampford died of strangulation.
In the final stages of leukaemia, he had been given just months to live by doctors.
The case is due to be committed to Crown Court.
