Woman raped by man she met near city community centre

A woman was raped at a city property after meeting a man near to a community centre on Friday night.

The victim, who is in her 30s, encountered the man at Giffard Park shops at around 9pm.

Today police said they are appealing for witnesses who were in the area at the time.

The offender is a white man, aged in early thirties, 6ft, slim, with blond hair, which is shaved at the back and sides.

He has a full sleeve tattoo on one arm. He was wearing a white T shirt and blue jeans.

Det Insp Ian Jarvis said: “The victim is understandably very distressed by what has happened.

“I would urge anyone who was in the area between 9am on Friday and 1am on Saturday and recognises the offender from the description to come forward as their information could be vital to this investigation.”
