She managed to get away by hitting the man. He then left, walking alongside the lake in the direction of The Lakeside Inn pub at around 1.15pm on Wednesday.

This morning Thames Valley Police has released an e-fit image of a man officers would like to speak to in connection with the sexual assault.

The offender is white, 5ft 3ins to 5ft 5ins, in his mid to late twenties, slim, with brown hair.

Designated investigator Darryl Morvan said: “This is a brazen attack on a lone woman in daylight, in an open area frequented by members of the public.

“Although the victim had the fortitude to fight off the attacker this is a serious incident and we are eager to trace the person in the E-Fit who may be able to assist us with our enquiries.

“If anyone has any information about the incident please contact police.”
