A 20-year-old woman, rescued after getting into difficulties in the Blue Lagoon lake, has died.
Emily Johnson, of Stantonbury, was airlifted to John Radcliffe Hospital after being pulled out of the old quarry in Bletchley at around 5pm last Wednesday.
She had been resuscitated but died just two days later.
The former Stantonbury Campus pupil’s death is the second in a week at the notorious lake after 61-year-old Paul Allsop suffered a heart attack while swimming out to retrieve a ball for a child on Friday, July 25.
Milton Keynes Council has pledged to step up its open water safety campaign with regular patrols and new permanent safety signs.
The 20-year-old’s death is being treated as unexplained and is not believed to be suspicious at this stage.
Officers are preparing a report on the incident to be handed over to the coroner.
