STAFF at a Buckinghamshire garden centre will be giving visitors an introduction to orchids at an event dedicated to the exotic plants this March (2012).

Wyevale Woburn Sands Garden Centre is hosting an Orchid Weekend on Saturday, March 10 and Sunday, March 11 to give customers free tips and advice on how to care for orchids.

Dominic Wright, Manager of the garden centre, which is located on Newport Road, explained: “We have organised a weekend dedicated to orchids to give people an introduction to these beautiful plants.

“During the weekend, staff will be on hand to give visitors free tips and advice on caring for orchids.

“We will have different varieties on show up to and including Mother’s Day on March 18. These exotic plants make lovely gifts for mums.”

There will be free ‘how to care for your orchid’ leaflets available during the event, while stocks last.

Dominic continued: “We will also be running a flower drawing competition for children. Youngsters are invited to draw their favourite flower on an A4 piece of paper. The closing date for entries is 4.30pm on Friday, March 16.”

The weekend is part of a series of free events being organised at Wyevale Woburn Sands Garden Centre throughout the year on a number of different gardening topics.

The Orchid Weekend will take place on Saturday, March 10 and Sunday, March 11 during normal garden centre opening hours. Admission and parking is free.
