Young chef cooks up success to win silver medal in competition

A YOUNG chef is celebrating after winning the silver medal in a national cooking tournament in Birmingham last week.

Daniel Capp, from Milton Keynes, won the silver medal in the Alaska Seafood Challenge at this year’s national cooking and hospitality tournament – ‘Salon Culinaire Hospitality’.

Daniel represented London’s only 5 red star hotel, the Royal Garden Hotel.

A total of eleven young chefs won a flurry of awards at the Hospitality 2011 event.

The national cooking and hospitality competition saw both young and experienced chefs from across the culinary world compete.

There were over 50 different categories for the participants to showcase their expertise.

Elite judges from a wide spectrum of culinary fields were on hand to assess the competitors on their presentation, technique and the all important final taste test.

Steve Munkley, executive chef at the Royal Garden Hotel, said: “I am extremely proud of my team.

“The success they have achieved has been an accumulation of dedication and most of all passion.

“Having eleven winners all from the Royal Garden Hotel’s kitchen is a great achievement.”
