AN entrepreneur who won the chance to meet Richard Branson is set to hold a family fun day event to encourage people to get fit.
Hannah Catmur, 22, met the Virgin boss after being nominated by online entrepreneur community Virgin Media Pioneers in a national search for the best budding business leaders.
Miss Catmur, 22, was one of eight nominees who met Sir Richard at his family home in Oxfordshire earlier this year.
The founder of the Get Out! Explorers Club website, Miss Catmur has created a smart phone app that will encourage children to be more active.
The club has received funding from funding and training from O2 ‘Think Big’, Unltd Awards and the Accelerator Academy. It has also been recognised by the National Trust, Woodland Trust and RSPB.
She said: “The idea is to get people to be more active using what kids are currently loving – mobile and social.
“As this young generation become increasingly tech-savvy with devices now more popular and accessible than ever Get Out! utilises this technology to incentivise children in a new and exciting way.”
Her latest event, themed ‘Exploring the Outdoors’ and ‘Getting Closer to Nature’, will take place at Harrold-Odell Country Park in Bedfordshire on August 25.
It will feature a big inflatable slide, funfair sidestalls, a photo competition, games and prizes, hot and cold food, face painting, scavanger hunts, birds of prey, arts and crafts tents, kite and badge making, a beat the goalie competition and a tombola.
The event is aimed at children aged between three and 12-years-old and will be a fun and communal experience.
