Teenage flutist James Westlake has been named Young Musican of the Year.

The annual ceremony, organised by Milton Keynes Council’s Music Service and supported by the Milton Keynes Rotary Club, took place at the Chrysalis Theatre in Willen.

It saw five youngsters go head-to-head for the title.

James, 18 from Stony Stratford, impressed the judges with his performance, landing him the title of Young Musician of the Year.

James, who has been part of the Music Service for three years, said: “I’m thrilled I won it this year as I worked very hard for it.

“I’d also like to congratulate everyone else on their performances as well.”

He added: “I very much look forward to coming back next year to perform, listen to the talented competitors and pass on the trophy to the new winner.”
