A cleaner died from severe head injuries while working on industrial machinery at a city meat processing factory.
Lynda Trebilcock, aged 53, from Heelands, was killed at the DeliCo plant, in Tattenhoe, in the early hours of Saturday.
Police have said the woman was not decapitated, as previously reported, although are awaiting the results of a post mortem.
Bernard Hoggarth, DeliCo chief executive, said: "This is horrendous for her family and for everyone who was working at the factory at the time.
"It is such a tragic incident - we have never experienced anything like it.
"The machine was not a slicer, it does not have blades and there were no exposed parts."
Police were called at 3.25am after receiving a call from shocked work mates.
A police spokesman said: "An investigation was launched which concluded that there had been no foul play and the death has now been passed to the Health and Safety Executive to investigate."
The HSE sent two investigators and an electrical expert to the scene while the 100,000 sq ft factory was closed.
DeliCo opened in Milton Keynes in 2000 and was bought by Hull-based sausage makers Cranswick in November last year.
An inquest into the cause of death is due to open this week.
