Charlotte seals a title hat-trick

Charlotte Morgan gained a superb treble as the Milton Keynes and District Badminton Association staged the second half of their junior tournament on Sunday.

The remaining tournaments were again held at the National Badminton Club at Loughton and were again sponsored by Carlton and backed by the Citizen.

There was some sensational badminton played and the amount of talent at junior level in Milton Keynes is a tribute to the fine work of the coaches.

There were again thrills and spills with broad smiles on the faces of both winners and losers alike.

A five-star performance came in three events from Charlotte Morgan who took three titles while the boys' under 12 singles saw the top two England-ranked players Sean Vendy and Harrison Simcock face each other, Sean edging to victory.

The under 12 boys' doubles saw Sean and Harrison join forces to beat Kalana De-Silva and Lip Seen Liew.

The under 12 girls' singles saw Hannah Swan play well to beat Tsui Yee Lau and she went on to win the doubles with Tsui Yee Lau against Alice Tarjussen and Melissa Jones.

Charlotte won the under 16 girls' singles with victory over Yule Zhang and Charlotte then teamed up withYule to beat Jessica Wilkins and Lydia Milligan.

The under 16 boys' singles saw victory for the ever improving Tom Stanford over Lip How Liew, the duo then joining forces to see off the challenge of Luke Beacall and Aran Alderman in the doubles final.

The under 18 mixed doubles final was a thrilling affair as Jonathan Butler and Nicole Walner faced Johnny Hendry and Charlotte Morgan.

It was Charlotte and Johnny who eventually came out on top, Charlotte thus completing a memorable hat-trick of wins.MK&DBA spokesman Dave Lill passed on his thanks to Carlton and the Citizen for their support as well as thanking the staff at the badminton centre.
