MILTON Keynes-based badminton star Gail Emms has been selected as a member of Britain's Team GB for the Beijing Olympic Games in August by the British Olympic Association.
For Emms, it will be the second time she has attended the Olympic Games in both mixed and women's doubles competitions.
Four years on from their entertaining yet nail-biting mixed doubles final in Athens, where they just missed out on the gold medal, Emms and mixed doubles partner Nathan Robertson will continue their successful partnership and be hoping to go one better this time out.
The pair who won the world mixed doubles title in 2006 added a bronze medal at this year's European Championships and are now ranked sixth in the world.
After a disappointing early exit for the women's doubles in Athens four years ago, Emms and partner Donna Kellogg go into Beijing ranked sixth in the world.
With recent success at the European Championships where they picked up a silver medal to add to their gold from 2006, the two will be hoping to win their first women's doubles medal in Beijing.
Emms said: "I am delighted that the BOA has confirmed that I will be representing Great Britain at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games this summer in both the mixed and women's doubles.
"To win silver in Athens was amazing but now I am as determined as ever to go one better and bring home gold with Nathan.
Donna and I will have tough competition in the women's doubles too, the fact that only two European teams have qualified for the Games at the moment shows the strength of the competition, but we have every chance of success and will be fighting hard for every single point.
"Being part of Team B&Q has been a fantastic experience and to have my name up there alongside other great Team B&Q Olympians such as Dame Kelly Holmes and Chris Hoy has been a great inspiration.
"I have also really enjoyed the mentoring aspect of the programme they have and hope that my selection will now inspire some of the other young Team B&Q Olympic and Paralympic hopefuls in their quest for success in the future."
