Players from the Renzoku Judo Club in Bletchley once again shone with some great performances in two very tough competitions.

Starting with the ever popular Ford Classic in Dagenham, Charlie Jones competed in the under 38kg section and fought magnificently over four tough fights to win a bronze medal while Matthew Ashley, in the under 34kg class, gained a creditable seventh place.

Star of the event yet again, however, was Jodie Caller who won her seventh gold medal of the year and once again proved that she is the girl to beat in the under 36kg category.

Jodie's brother Jamie matched his sister's performance with a fine gold medal in the under 46kg section, beating arch rival Charlie Davis in the process. Sarah Down, facing both the national gold and silver medallist in the under 40kg category, lost out narrowly in the golden score period but still finished with a bronze medal.

Completing the Renzoku medallists was David Down who, like Sarah, lost his second fight by a single point and once again claimed the bronze medal.

The players then moved on to the Peterborough Open where Josh De La Ford, competing in the under 81kg category had one of the most exciting matches of the day.

Needing to win in under 10 seconds to win a silver medal, Josh executed a near-perfect te-guruma with his first throw to win the match with ippon.

Jamie Caller, competing in the under 50kg class for the first time, fought well for a bronze medal, as did David Down in the under 60kg category.

Sarah Down completed the medal haul for Renzoku with a gold medal in the the girls' under 40kg group.
