Matt Legg back in the ring
Milton Keynes boxer Matt Legg is back with a bang!

Legg took a massive army of supporters with him to Watford Town Hall for his comeback fight last Friday – and the 32 year-old gave them an explosive showing.

He blasted Howard Daley from Preston to defeat inside two rounds and manager Micky Helliet believes the former amateur star can bring professional titles back to the city.

"I'm convinced that Matt can go on and win the British title at the very least," he said.

"He's got bags of ability and if I can get him the right fights there's no reason why he can't go a long way."

Helliet revealed he turned down the chance for Legg to compete in next month's Prizefighter heavyweight event that offers a first prize of £25,000.

He said: "I thought it was too soon for Matt. There's another event in May and he will be ready for that. I think he will win it."
And Legg stayed on course for that with a crushing win against Daley, but admitted that it was hard going.

"I'm just glad to get that out of the way," he said after chalking up his fourth win in five professional fights.

"I couldn't let my punches go in the first round but then I relaxed in the second round and the punches came."

Legg got a terrific reception en route to the ring but his supporters looked anxious as his opponent started well.

Daley pushed out punches and while Legg threw the better quality blows with body shots, he was pushed back and outworked for much of the opening round.

The Preston boxer kept attacking in the second before Legg responded with bursts of blows, including a crack to Daley's jaw which shook him to the soles of his boots.

Legg then continued with the blows until the referee was forced to step in bring the fight to a stop.
