Round Five of the East Anglia Summer BMX Racing Series was held in Milton Keynes last weekend.

The meeting attracted 333 riders, including 39 from Milton Keynes and 31 novice riders, showing the increasing interest in BMX racing in the city.

Promoted by the MKBMX Racing Club, the event was the largest BMX race meeting in the region this year and was held at the MK BMX track at Pineham north of Willen Lake on the V11 Tongwell Street.

Seven of the finals were won by MKBMX Racing riders.

Lee Baker beat off 36 other riders to win in the Male 19 and over class, while Lana Richardson secured the Junior Female title.

Tyler Devonport was the best of the 11-14 year-old novices, Cameron Willoughby won the Male Six and under class and Jacob Surtees the Male Seven group.

Anthony Coe was the winner of the Male 16 class and Dave Godfrey claimed the Masters titles.

Izzy Ferrada, the National Series Champion for 10-12 girls, went up against the 13-year-old boys and achieving two second place finishes and one win.

She then followed this with fifth place in the final and is currently third in this year's National BMX Racing Series.

The dusty conditions led to some spills, with the most serious injury that of Christophe Lasserre who required an air ambulance to take him to hospital after a heavy fall.

It was later discovered that he had suffered a fractured pelvis.
