Slick gang of crooks carry out smash and grab raid at Milton Keynes bank

Professional smash and grab thieves forced open an ATM machine in the lobby of a bank in the middle of the night.

Police are now searching for the gang, who all wore dark clothing and hoods.

The raid happened just after 1am on Sunday morning at the Metro Bank in Babbage Gate, Oakgrove.

Three or four offenders entered the lobby of the Metro Bank, forced open the ATM, stole a “large amount” of cash and caused serious damage to the bank, say police.

A light coloured vehicle similar to a Honda Civic Type R was seen in the area at the time of the offence.

Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Simon Mountain said: “This was a well organised, sophisticated offence where extensive damage has been caused to the bank. I would like to speak to anyone who may have seen this offence or has information about who may be involved.

“If you have any information please contact me via the Thames Valley Police Enquiry Centre on 101.
