WWII's secret intelligence workers gather to share memories at Bletchley Park

Twenty five years after the first ever reunion, the Veterans of Bletchley Park and its outstations will gather at the unassuming Buckinghamshire estate on Sunday, September 11, to remember their vital contribution to the war effort.

Every September the Bletchley Park Trust invites Veterans and their families back for the Reunion, giving visitors a rare opportunity to walk among and perhaps meet the men and women whose work helped save countless lives.

This year author Sinclair McKay, whose work includes The Lost World of Bletchley Park, will be giving a talk to Veterans.

His latest book, Spies of Winter: The GCHQ Codebreakers Who Fought The Cold War, will be published on September 5.

Nearly 90 Veterans of Bletchley Park and its outstations attended last year’s reunion with their families.

Since then exhibitions have been opened about Codebreaker Gordon Welchman and the Petard Pinch, in which crucial Enigma codebooks were captured from a sinking German U-boat.

Most recently, the second phase of the exhibition about codebreaking and signals intelligence in World War One, The Road to Bletchley Park, was unveiled.

It features such key points in the war as The Battle of Jutland and the Zimmermann telegram.
