Southern Counties North League
Milton Keynes Rugby Club rocked league leaders Buckingham on Saturday, recording an 8-0 home win over the previously unbeaten side.

City now join Buckingham, Marlow and Chipping Norton at the top of the table with five wins from six games.

Watched by a large crowd, it was City who struck first with a try. The hosts won a scrum, Dan Pearson picking the ball up and going down the blind side to score in the corner.

The Milton Keynes pack held the edge throughout the game and they played like demons for the whole 80 minutes.

Although pinning Buckingham back inside their own 22 for 20 minutes they failed to increase the score and they knew their slender 5-0 lead might not be enough.

Buckingham's threes have a reputation for fast running and passing but they were closed down quickly by their City counterparts.

The second half saw the game open up slightly, but City remained in control in all areas of the game.

And they added a vital penalty when Buckingham were penalised for holding on the ground, Andy White keeping his nerve to send his kick between the uprights and make it 8-0.

This now meant that Buckingham would have to score twice and would have to take chances.

The visitors did put City under pressure but the whole Milton Keynes side fought hard and closed their opponents down quickly whenever possible.

Saturday sees City back in league action when they travel to face Swindon.

City 2nds gained a narrow 13-12 win over Northampton BBOB, their try by Arron McConnell with Michael Dean adding one conversion and a penalty with Adam Duckers sealing the win with a last-minute penalty.

MK 3rds are struggling in their Northampton League but put in a brave performance in the 36-3 defeat against Luton 3rds.
