HAVING ensured their presence in the league for next season by seeing off Windsor last weekend, Bletchley made the trip to Cheltenham for their final league match of the season.

From the first whistle the home side literally tore into Bletchley as the visitors failed to realise what had hit them.

Within the first minute Cheltenham took the ball forward from a lineout in the Bletchley 22 metres area and found their way o
ver the line to score.

Two minutes later some hard incisive running saw Cheltenham break the Bletchley defence for a second time.

Bletchley were on the back foot and certainly not supporting each other as quickly as Cheltenham. An attempted fancy pass by a Bletchley player saw Cheltenham regain possession and swiftly move the ball out to the wing to score their third try. And a fourth quickly followed to extend the home side's lead to 26 points after just 13 minutes.

Bletchley had the chance to get off the mark but missed a penalty and just moments later Cheltenham scored again as their scrumhalf sold an outrageous dummy before scampering through for an unconverted try and 31-0 lead.

Cheltenham were on the rampage and whilst Bletchley were covering and tackling ferociously, the home side had the cover and support to keep the ball moving. Despite Bletchley's efforts two further tries followed before the interval.

From the restart Bletchley came out prepared to battle. Some great work by the forwards saw Bletchley make a neat interchange between forwards and backs resulting in a Bletchley player crossing the line, but only for the officials to disallow the try for a forward pass.

After 15 minutes, the Cheltenham winger collected a Bletchley clearance kick and made an excellent swerving run through five attempted tackles to score an unconverted try and make it 51-0.

But Bletchley didn't give up and were determined to score. With ten minutes remaining Dagan Probert collected from a scum and was able to avoid the tackle and plump the ball on the try line.

The visitors then attempted to turn further pressure into points, but it was Cheltenham who were the more clinical of the two as they ran in two futher tries in the last five minutes to make the final score 63-5.
