Olney Rugby Club made the long trip to Trowbridge on Saturday and returned empty-handed after a narrow 12-7 defeat.
This was Olney's seventh defeat in nine games and leaves them in the bottom two in the South West Two East.
The first half was evenly balanced with some fine play from both teams, the sides making promising attacking breaks in their back line with both defences holding firm.
Olney lost winger Will Edwards after only six minutes due to injury but he was replaced by the ever reliable Kev Smith, who came on and who enjoyed a fine performance.
The first half remained tight with the hosts holding a narrow 5-0 lead at half time thanks to a try.
Olney were determined to make the trip worthwhile in the second half and they held firm in their scrum while number eight Ian Bennett looked sure to score on several occasions, the referee intervening and ending his hopes of a try.
The hosts added a converted try in the second half to lead 12-0 but Olney made a late change to their front row with Phil Berry replacing the impressive George Stanton.
The last 10 minutes also saw them introduce Tom Taylor-Davis at inside centre, Rhys Peakman moving to full back with Scott Filler going off after a strong defensive game.
Taylor-Davis was quick to show Olney they were not going home without a score and took a crash ball, brushing aside Trowbridge's fly half and inside centre. Srum half Richard James' conversion left the final score at 12-7.
Olney now have a week off before welcoming Maidenhead for a home fixture on November 29 for a 2.30pm kick off.
>> After a magical mystery tour which seemed to take in half of England, the Occasionals finally arrived at Frome to take on Trowbridge.
A very competitive match saw the Occasionals extend their unbeaten run with a 39-0 win with tries from Dave Hurley (2), Dean Crafter (2), Bob Whitehead, Jock Weatherup, and Paul Winter with Cherry Middleditch adding two conversions.
The trip home allowed for plenty of 'painkiller' to be administered for some aching old joints!
