January can be a very boring month for many of us. The festivities of Christmas and New Year seem a long way away and we start to get bogged down in worrying about sorting out our finances – making sure we pay into our ISAs and thinking about our pension situation, whether workplace or choosing a stakeholder pension for example.
But we all need something to look forward to in this dreary month. So with Valentine’s Day just around the corner in February you may as well use this opportunity to get planning your perfect romantic getaway.
Here are four of our favourites.
Europe boasts many spots vying for the crown of “city of love”. But never mind Paris and Venice, we think the title should be taken by Bruges. Here you’ll find old world charm, chocolatiers, canals and cobbled streets – the perfect ingredients for a romantic weekend away. Yes the weather may be cold, but that just gives you the excuse to hold each other close as you take in the sites of this wonderful city. Enjoy a scenic canal cruise or take in the city by horse-drawn carriage – it’s what romance is made of.
Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya
On safari you’ll see some of the most stunning animals in the world and enjoy breathtaking sunsets before retiring to your luxury lodge for the evening. It’s the perfect experience to enjoy with your partner – after all the experience is one best shared. The North Western Mara Triangle is often the spot for the best viewings and as one of the quietest parts of the reserve; you’ll also enjoy an exclusive edge to your trip. Hurry to book in time for Valentine’s.
We’re thinking a little outside the box here, but why not? Jaipur – the City of Princes still has an ancient regal glory clinging to it, with the forts and palaces of the Pink City perfect for a little sightseeing together. You’ll also find a great market with a number of fantastic handicrafts – it’s the perfect excuse to shop till you drop. If you get a little tired of the city and the sightseeing, why not enjoy a camel ride in the desert and a romantic evening under the stars?
St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Caribbean
In particular, we suggest heading to Mopion beach – best described as a dollop of sand surrounded by crystal clear ocean. This beach is perfection and has been the focal point for many advertisements for the Caribbean. There’s nothing quite as romantic as a stunning beach scene shared with your partner.
