Following last season's flirtation with the prospect of relegation Cranfield United are now relieved that their status in the Molten Spartan South Midlands League Division One has been confirmed for the coming season thanks to the restructuring of th
e league which has increased the number of teams from 19 to 21.
With further ground improvements in hand the club is now looking forward to a season which will also see them participating in the FA Vase, the FA Youth Cup and hopefully for the first time ever in the FA Cup.
Manager Craig Connell and his management team are looking to build a squad capable of progressing in all of the above competitions and is keen to recruit players with the necessary ability, skills, fitness and commitment to perform consistently at that level.
Pre-season training started last Thursday and all last season's first, second and under 18 team players, along with prospective newcomers, are all welcome to come and attend.
Pre-season friendlies have already been arranged for the first team against Sileby Rangers, Olney Town, Leighton Town, Colney Heath, Rugby Town and Long Buckby, with the reserves facing MK Wanderers, Bletchley Town, Whitworths and Meltis Corinthians.
All interested players should contact manager Craig Connell (07714 148 316) or reserve team manager Dick Warner (07778 778 479) or under 18 manager Pat Booden (07854 961 372).
