The Dons are now just one point short of promotion but again failed to find a win that would have taken them into League One.

Lloyd Dyer and substitute Mark Wright went closest for the home side in the second half as the Bulls failed to threat Dons' goal all evening.

Paul Ince's men are now four points clear of second place Peterborough and a draw against high-flyers Stockport on Saturday is now the target.

The first half was pretty uneventful as both sides lacked cutting edge in the final third.

The only efforts that troubled the Bulls' goal were a string of long-range efforts.

The first came from Lloyd Dyer but his blistering 25-yard effort went straight into the arms of Wayne Brown.

On 19 minutes Jemal Johnson got on the end of Wilbraham's knock down and hit a stinging half-volley that Brown did well to tip over.

Then five minutes later Danny Swailes hit a searing 30-yard shot that just went over.

Hereford showed almost nothing in reply and their first decent took a whole half to create as Gary Hooper just curled wide from 25-yards.

Attacking the Cowshed in the second half the Dons looked more dangerous.
Just before the hour mark Alan Navarro had a shot just clawed out for a corner at the near post.

Then Dyer was presented with a glorious opportunity minutes later when substitute Mark Wright burst into the box and squared to the winger who just curled over from 10-yards.

On 71 minutes Wright then had a gilt edged chance of his own as Lewington's cross deflected to him at the back post, he took a touch and his side-footed shot was just cleared of the line by Toumani Diagouraga.
