MK Dons winger Mark Wright today said that he thinks the team are capable of challenging for the League One title on their return to the higher division.

Confidence is understandably high within the squad after completing the league and cup double last weekend but Wright wants to go one better.

Speaking in the build up to the Dons final game of the season against Morecambe Wright stated: "We'll do well because we can play some good stuff, I think we could challenge."

This will reassure Dons fans as the players seem intent on building on this season's success. The goalscoring winger was keen to pay tribute to the Dons terrific support this campaign.

"It's really good to play in front of a big crowd every week, it spurs you on especially the last game away, they've been fantastic."

The ex Wallsall man has netted 14 goals in 29 league appearances and puts his impressive goal tally down to the freedom given to him by the manager "giving me and Lloydy licence to get forward has helped."

The Dons could've be forgiven for having a degree of complacency in some matches this season and Wright says the Don's closest challengers provided them with the toughest test. "Peterborough were the best team I've played against but Chesterfield were good when we played them at home."

Wright joined the Dons on a free transfer from Walsall after they were promoted to League One but has promised any doubters that he is more than happy at the club. "I've got another year on my contract so I'll definately be here next year".

The Dons top scorer added that he is now enjoying life in Milton Keynes. "I'm settled now, I like it here it's nice and quiet".

He was however keeping tight lipped on speculation that the manager could take part in Saturday's game. "I don't know, I've heard a rumour but nothing's been said".

Dons fans will be hoping Mark Wright can carry on his great form for next season to help his team to even more success.
