American dream for city canoe trio

Three canoeists from Milton Keynes have been selected to compete for Great Britain in the World Championships in the USA this autumn, but are looking for a sponsor to help get them there.

Brother and sister Kim and Ben Aldred, and Paul King, are all ranked number one in their respective freestyle events.

But with no funding available, they are in need of a financial boost to get them across the pond this August.

Kim scored 713 points in the last GB selection event at Holme Pierepoint, Notts, and has been the junior lady K1 freestyle national champion for the last four years.

Ben was selected as GB’s No1 men’s squirt boat team paddler and took the 2012 European Championship title in Austria last year.

Paul was selected as GB’s leading OC1 paddler from the results of the selection event and has held the No1 position since 2008.

They are all in training for the World Championships.
