LOOKING just a tad shell-shocked, Phil Oxley cradles a mighty mirror which turned the scales all the way to 33-4, pictured.

He landed the male fish, known as ‘Spike’, when MK Specialist Group booked Elsons lake at Stanwick for a day.

Willen Hospice has benefited by £2,222 thanks to a Furzton match and a mega raffle run in memory of Maver Milton Keynes man Terrie Tapp who died earlier this year.

Ian Smith, who won the match, and Phil Bardel, who organised the raffle, are pictured together with Terrie’s widow Pam, handing the bumper cheque over to Elaine from the hospice. Prizes were donated by Daiwa, Preston, Fox and Maver.

Austin Maddock had a runaway win in Beacon’s Furzton match, Sunday, bagging 45-2 of bream way ahead of Jim Stubbins 14-9 and Brian Cooke 7-8.

Bream ruled in MK Vets’ Wednesday Claydon lake match where John Harvey netted 26-4 on feeder and pellet as John Hewison poled worm and caster for 22-1 and Les Smith made 16-8. But Alan Ford would have claimed any big fish prizes as he landed just two slabs for 14-8.

On the same water, Sunday, Ernie ‘I’m so lucky’ Sattler won Calvert’s open with 35-9. James Lewis had 22-9 and Barry Witteridge 16-1.

MK’s Wappenham Water saw a visiting club sweep won with 44lb of carp while two lads fishing spare pegs took 10 to 18lb for way over 100lb between them...

Furzton saw Terry Hawes land 22, mostly mid-doubles, carp to 22-6, Sunday while another angler was seen to bank 39 fish of similar stamp.

Bradwell lake was where long-serving MKAA bailiff Ron Earnshaw went fishing himself, Sunday – netting a 6lb tench.

Roach to a pound added up to an 18lb net for John Basterfield when he fished caster and tare over hemp on Tear Drop 4.

Osprey’s trek to a Whittlesea, Cambs, lake produced 124lb of carp and silvers for Mark Carter with his dad, Pete, third on 90lb. Keiran Croft had 103lb.

Towcester Vets’ Astwell Mill do went to John Balhatchett on 27-11 as Tosh Saunders caught 20-5 and Gerald Green 11-13.

A 14lb carp in the last 10 minutes put Wayne Robinson top of Bairstows open...with 14-9. Andy Jones had 7lb and Graham Martin 5-15.

Sunday’s ‘North Bucks Fed’ cup on Linford’s Wilderness went to Roy Hefferon with 8-2 of canal skimmers plus bits, followed by Russ Nash 7-15-4 and John Wood 5-1-4.

Jack Jones extended his DATS’ Tuesday evening series lead when he finished joint second on 5-2-8 with Karl Ruditis, back of Wolverton Works. Dave MaClennan had 5-10.

Olney’s junior Ouse cup fell to Jack Moroney with 2-3 of bits ahead of Charlie Mynard 1-10 and Dan Harris 0-13.

Fixtures: Sunday, Tear Drops and Lodge main lake closed for matches. August 16, Olney Tuesday Ouse open and, August 20, Floral Fiesta open – call 01234 240061 for both.
