THERE were some excellent individual performances at the South of England Cross Country Championships in Brighton for Marshall Milton Keynes Athletic Club.
Top place once again went to Alfie Yabsley (pictured) with his 10th place finish in the M13 race, and there were also top 50 placings for Chad Lambert (16th M20), Jasmine Finlay (19th F17), Elle Roche (22nd F20), Dominic Murphy (24th M13), Lauren Murphy (35th F13), Tom Comerford (37th MS), Lara Bromilow (42nd FS), Emily Bousfield (45th F17) and Amy Radford (47th F15).
For the U13 age groups there were just two competitors in both the boys and girls races with 10th place for Alfie Yabsley 10m 43s and 24th for Dominic Murphy 10m 59s, while it was 35th for Lauren Murphy 11m 57s and 77th Molly Adams 12m 29s.
The U15 boys were much better represented with the team finishing a creditable 15th and led home by 65th Owen Seamark in 16m 34s, with 79th Harry Morton 16m 42s, 108th Toby Herdman-Smith 17m 06s and 137th Archie Rippin 17m 34s.
Unfortunately the same was not true for the U15 girls with only 47th placed Amy Radford finishing in 15m 47s while the U17 Women were led by 19th place Jasmine Finlay in 18m 43s, followed by 45th Emily Bousfield 20m 05s and 61st Fern Yull 20m 51s.
Both the U17 men and U20 women fielded single runners, with 73rd Ben James 22m 46s and 22nd Elle Roche 25m 36s, while the U20 men had two starters but unfortunately only Chad Lambert finished in 27:35 taking 16th spot with Ryan Burling dropping out.
The senior women were led home by 42nd Lara Bromilow 33m 16s, with 65th Wendy Webber 34m 39s and 160th Julie Dalzell 38m 53s.
The senior men had the only other complete team finishing 23rd overall with Tom Comerford 53m 38s leading the team home in 37th spot followed by 68th Steve Tuttle 54m 51s, 139th Paul Erwood 57m 42s, 189th Chris Hearn 59m 04s, 311th Gary Blaber 63m 50s and 588th Mike Burling 74m 39s.
>> At the London Colleges Cross Country League in Reading, it was 18th for Tom Comerford 23m 18s and 24th for Sam Deathe 24m 30s.
In the Bedford Park Run (5km) Geoff New (M45) was 21st in 20m 55s, and in the interestingly named Brass Monkey 10k at Corby, Steve Herring (M40) was 7th in 35m 46s and taking 14th spot was Ian Van Lokven (1st M50) 37m 02s.
