IZZY Ferrada failed to repeat her European BMX Series success in Birmingham as she missed out on a final place in the European Championships in the Netherlands at the weekend.
Izzy took 2nd place in round nine of the BMX Series in Birmingham, but had an off day competing against the best of Europe in the picturesque town of Haaksbergen.
Competing in the 15-year-old class for girls, she just missed out on a place in the semi-finals, but could still hold her head high.
“Racing in Europe is always a challenge and this was certainly one of them,” said Izzy.
“European countries have the best BMX racers around so I have to race against them to become a better rider. The standard of racing is so much higher over there.”
Supported by ‘The Swan at Salford’, Izzy will continue her campaign to conquer the continent when she heads to Denmark for this year’s World Championships later this month. She’ll be joined in Copenhagen by fellow city rider Matt Barnard, her Redman Rockstar BMX team-mate.
The pair will also race in the East Anglia BMX Championships at Pineham in October.
