City swimmers lead the way in Grand Prix

A TEAM from the City of Milton Keynes Swim Club travelled to Peterborough on Saturday for the COP Grand Prix and picked up some more good results.

The competition consists of four rounds and the best swimmers with the most points overall wins. The young team of swimmers aged between nine and 12 swam well as a team and individually, and there were a number of outstanding swims and personal best times achieved, with some swimmers competing for the first time.

First place swims went to Helen Odams (50 freestyle, 200 IM), Mathew Sturgess (50 butterfly, 50 backstroke) and Jason Ashley (50 butterfly), with second place swims by Mathew (200 freestyle) Charlotte Ratcliffe (50 breaststroke) and Jason (50 backstroke, 200 freestyle).

Overall standings after the first round show the following CMK swimmers in the top three of their age groups: 9-year-old boys 1st Matthew Sturgess and 3rd Adam Pentland, 11-year-old girls 2nd Helen Odams, 11-year-old boys 1st Jason Ashley, and 12-year-old boys 3rd Christian Bywater.

Other swimmers who showed outstanding performances were Edith Patey, Adam Pentland, Marcus Mcauliffe, Will Barry, Josh Loveday, Lewis Grosvenor, Hope Balderstone-Jones. Nell Blackmore, Mabel Painter, Katie Murray, Georgia Davies Payne, Daniella Toomey, Charlotte Folkes, Georgia Richardson, Isi Lancaster, Lily Patey, Mia Murphy, Megan Blyth, Rosie Merrin, Frieda Keegan, Chloe Osili, Bailey Bedborough, Cooper Tomkins, Connell Keegan, Christian Bywater, Michael Pentland, Austin Getter, Rhys Temple and Laura Nix.
