A group of riders from Team Milton Keynes made the trip to local rivals Peterborough to race in the fourth round of the East Anglia BMX Winter Series.

Of the 103 racers on the day, MK showed their force of new upcoming riders by fielding 31 on the day,

Kicking off the day’s racing was the seven and under age group. Barney Devereux again went out and continued from where he left off from the last round at Norwich as he stayed unbeaten all day, despite a bit of pressure from his rivals.

MK’s James Payne-Fraser and Joshua Abbott of Royston had their plans interrupted in the 10-11 years age group with the arrival of Derby’s Mathew Ryan. Some great racing in the group eventually saw Mathew take the win ahead of Joshua and James in 3rd.

In the 12-13 years group, the Team MK trio of Toby Lachlan, Joe Kitchen and Harvey Davie delivered a superb points haul between them. However, the victory was narrowly taken by Braintree rider Jake Coombes, with Toby 2nd.

Big brother Austin Lachlan stepped up a gear in the 14-16 group. As one of the youngest riders he was superb and his never give up attitude saw him bag a fantastic 4th position on the day, which moves him up to 2nd in the overall standings.

MK’s newest member and sponsor Daniel Lucidarme of Evolution BMX managed a fine performance in the masters category as he took 3rd place.

The racing between MK golden girl Zara Lachlan and her rivals Hannah Drew from Redditch and Braintree’s Roxy Hinton was breathtaking.

Each race could have gone either way with the three girls battling it out right to the line, eventually seeing Zara having to settle for 2nd place.

Lennie Warner, racing in the 24in Cruisers 17 and over group, showed his training trips up to the Peterborough track were well worth it as he looked on fire with top three finishes in his first two races.

But after an attack of cramp and a slip on the starting gate during his third race, he had to settle for last.

However, he was prepared for his final which was fast and hard and saw him grab a very good 3rd place on the day.

Team MK’s next race will be held at the Pineham track in MK on December 29, open to all riders who fancy having a go. Registration will close at 11.30am, racing starts at noon.
