SCHOOLGIRL Izzy Ferrada proved she’s still top of her national BMX class when she raced to victory in round two of the UK Series on Sunday.
The 16-year-old Ousedale pupil won all three of her heats before leading from start to finish in the final – putting her top of the 15-16 girls’ overall table having finished third in round one, also at the new Indoor BMX Arena in Manchester.
Winning the three heats meant the 2008 national champion was able to skip the semi final and go straight through to the final race.
There is still a long way to go in the 11-stage series, but Ferrada is already chomping at the bit to get back out for the third round, with her spot at this May’s BMX World Championships in Birmingham already secured. And she has set high standards for herself.
“There was pressure on me to win after the disappointment of round one,” she said. “I’m really pleased to have done it.
“I can’t wait for the next round of the series now.”
