City boxer Matt Legg squares up to a heavyweight power puncher in Milton Keynes this weekend.
Shamrock Promotions are bringing professional boxing back to the city with a show at WonderWorld nightclub in Xscape on Sunday afternoon.
Heavyweight prospect Hughie Fury is in action and Legg, 37, tops the bill in front of his home town crowd.
He’s been out of the ring for nearly five years and has been matched tough in his comeback fight.
Janis Ginters was a one-round winner earlier this month, and the Latvian has also competed in kick boxing and cage fighting.
Legg has watched footage of Ginters on the internet and said: “He’s definitely dangerous. He has a big right hand that I need to avoid.
“I want to put into practice what I’ve been working on in the gym – and that is boxing and moving.
“I’m feeling sharp, everything has gone great. I’m fit enough. I’m probably fitter than I’ve ever been.
“I could have done with more sparring, but there are not that many heavyweights around to spar.”
Legg, sponsored by www.cardbuilds.com and Atlas Fitness Centre in Wolverton, should have plenty of support for the big comeback fight.
He is boxing in his home town for the first time in his career and expects to have more than 200 fans cheering him on.
He hopes those supporters can inspire him all the way to a title – the vacant Southern Area championship being his target.
Legg said: “If I can get some wins and feel ready, hopefully I can box for the title by the end of the year.”
Doors at WonderWorld open at 2pm on Sunday and boxing starts at 3pm. Tickets are now available from 07527 888605 or on the door.
