A team of city kids finished as runners-up when they took on the best players from all over the country at the Basketball England 3on3 Championships in London.

The competition, held at the University of East London, was dominated by sides from the capital, but the boys from Milton Keynes did their city and club proud as they went on to reach the final.

The MK Mustangs, made up of captain Abraham Adoyi, Harsimran Singh, Kadessi Alassani and Tomas Lozano Fernandez – all aged 14 or 15 – played with great, skill, effort and determination throughout.

The boys all participate in Milton Keynes Basketball Club’s National League teams and trials for the new season are now being held at MK Academy on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Meanwhile the club’s free basketball sessions during the school summer holidays began this week. Youngsters aged between seven and 17 can just turn up and play for free at five different locations across the city, with coaches on hand to help out. For further details call MK 251 987.
