JILL Richardson had the time of her life when she picked up five gold medals at the European Dragon Boat Championships in Nottingham at the weekend.

Representing Great Britain in both women’s and mixed competitions, she was part of the 20-strong crews that raced over 200m, 500m and 2,000m, also picking up a silver medal along the way.

So good was her achievement that the 39-year-old – who also won World Championship mixed bronze in the USA last year – has decided to retire from international competition.

The proud single mum of two will now only race for Milton Keynes side Secklow Hundred on a national level while spending more time with her children, meaning she can now ease off from her strict training schedule.
