MK tennis aces are a hit on the county stage

IT’S been another fantastic year of county success for Milton Keynes Tennis Club, with plenty of silverware to show off at the end of the season.

After becoming the first team in the north of the county to win the Bucks County Shield for 50 years in 2011, the Woughton-on-the-Green-based club did it again this year, and also took home a further nine cups at the Milton Keynes Tennis League presentation evening recently.

The club’s success is reflected by two of its top players being chosen to represent Bucks at county level, and a further four juniors also in the county squad, one of whom has progressed to national level.

Although rank and file membership has shot up in light of some significant British tennis achievements in 2012, engaging with the community is still an important part of what the club does.

Members recently took the LTA’s All Play initiative to Middleton Hall, and last month played host to Slated Row and Walnuts schools when children with learning difficulties and autism had a great time playing tennis to their own various abilities.
