The long trip up to Leeds was worth the effort for Marshall Milton Keynes Athletic Club with a great victory in the first UK Women’s League Division Three match of the season.

The club ran out 8.5 points clear of 2nd placed Belgrave Harriers, with the Liverpool Harriers a distant 3rd.

However, it was a sluggish start for the club with the first podium positions coming in the 400m, with 3rd by Nichola Gibson 60.8s and 1st for Faye Richold 61.9s (pictured), while in the 800m there was 3rd for Di Baldwin 2m 56.8s.

Two fine 2nd places came in the 100m hurdles thanks to Heidi Nicholas in 16.2s and Rachel Gibbens 17.2s, while Sophie Gibbens finished 2nd in the 400m hurdles in 76.5s. She also took 3rd place in the 2000m steeplechase 8m 13.1s.

Rachel Gibbens grabbed 3rd in the high jump, clearing 1.55m, and then won the pole vault with 3.40m, while Heidi Nicholas was 3rd in the long jump, leaping 5m.

Andrea Jenkins and Emma Beardmore took a double 2nd in the hammer, by throwing 48.59m and 42.63m, while in the shot it was 2nd for Andrea with 10.27m and 1st for Emma 10.04m.

And in an excellent finale they added a double win in the discus, throwing 39.14m and 35.53m.

And finally, although they only took one podium place between them on the day, a special mention goes to Lara Bromilow and Di Baldwin as they both contested the 800m, 1500m and 3000m during the team’s success.
