A GROUP of youngsters from Orbit Trampoline Club enjoyed success when they competed against 12 other clubs at the recent Brentwood Open.
Using the event as a good practice exercise ahead of the club’s last grading tournament of the year on the Isle of Wight later this month, the competition offered a realistic test of what to expect – and the signs were encouraging for the city team.
The event was particularly successful for Cody Whitbread and Megan McLaughlin who both returned home from Essex with bronze medals.
In the U15 girls grade D – the highest regional grade – Megan jumped consistently high and cleanly to take bronze and Cody demonstrated her good shaped somersaults to finish 3rd in the girls U13 grade F.
There were no poor results or falls from the Orbit contingent and some were only tenths away from finishing on the podium.
In U11 girls grade H, Rachel Marsh finished 7th in her first non-club competition, while in girls U13 grade G, Chloe Miles was 5th – by just 0.4 of a mark.
Lacey Butler took 5th place in the U11 girls grade G, missing out only by 0.3, while her team-mate Millie Heathcote was 12th.
Millie’s brother Jamie did slightly better in the U15 boys grade G, coming 9th after he jumped well above his age.
In U15 girls grade G, Kathryn Marsh jumped consistently well to finish in 9th place, while also completely out of age group at 10 years, Charlie Roberts missed a medal by 0.3 in the U15 grade F, coming 4th.
Georgia Makel gave a good chase in taking 4th place behind Cody in the girls U13 grade F, and also chasing her team-mate hard was Ciara O’Brien who took 4th place in the U15 regional D.
