Record numbers hit the water

Wakeboarding coach Alexis Balladon is on a mission to get more women in Milton Keynes involved in the extreme water sport.

The sport involves riding a wakeboard over the surface of a body of water, usually towed behind a motorboat, typically at speeds of up to 20 miles per hour.

The aim of the sport is to pull off the most outrageous tricks using a variety of ramps, and competition amongst the most fearless is intense.

Milton Keynes has its own thriving scene and the recent heatwave has attracted record numbers to try wakeboarding at Willen Lake.

Alexis is herself a serious competitor on the national stage, and is encouraging as many women as possible to give wakeboarding – usually a male dominated sport – a try.

She holds morning training classes during summer. Find out more on MK 670197.
