Rogues beat Bucks to lift Korfball Cup

Walton Rogues won their first ever South Midlands Korfball Cup after overcoming MK Bucks 22-14 with a dominant display of shooting.

Rogues, cup runners-up in 2011 and 2012, started the match with a 4-0 lead under the cup handicap system, but quickly showed that they did not need this helping hand by being first on the scoresheet and never allowing Bucks to close the gap, despite early long spells of Bucks possession.

Bucks tried to keep in touch with precision shooting from Adam Preston, but the Rogues shots were consistently more accurate, with Megan Allen on the scoresheet four times and hat-tricks for captain Jimmy George and coach Chelsie Browne.

A spectacular underarm shot by Adam Baxter from the halfway line was the icing on the cake for the Walnut Tree-based club to claim the trophy.
