THE ladies of Milton Keynes Rowing Club smashed their own records by being the second fastest boat from the Eastern Region at the Women’s Eights Head of the River Race on the Thames Tideway.

Fresh from success at the Nottingham Trent Head, the women’s eight climbed a massive 122 places from their finishing position of last year and came 76th overall and 25th in their IM2 category, with 300 top crews from all over the country taking part on the course which follows that of the University Boat Race.

The eight powered their way past six crews during the 6.8km race and were overtaking a seventh across the finishing line at Putney Bridge.

Their rivals Warwick, recent winners of the Nottingham Trent Head, were held off until well past Hammersmith Bridge where they overtook them on the last stretch.
