IZZY Ferrada rode her name into the British BMX history books at the weekend when she was crowned 2012 National Series champion.

After 11 races, the 16-year-old from Great Linford finished well clear of her rivals in the Girls 15/16 years age group after winning four rounds.

Previous wins in Manchester and two in Birmingham saw Izzy go into the last round in Peterborough in pole position, and she sealed the deal with another victory, giving her the national title she last won when she was 12.

That final round victory followed a win in the first ever Time Trial event for girls in the UK on Friday evening. The top eight 15/16 year-old girls rode individually to post a best time, and Izzy was the fastest.

“Winning the Time Trial – and prize money – on Friday was brilliant,” she said. “With the Series final being held at 9am on Sunday morning – because of thunderstorms the evening before – it has been a wild weekend!

“I can’t thank everyone enough for the help they have given me this year. This national title is a big thank you to everyone.”

Izzy’s final race of the season will be at the British Championships on September 16, where she hopes to complete an incredible double.
