Husband and wife pairing David and Tracey Morris are celebrating this week after booking their place in the Grand Final of the Golf Care Matchplay Championship.

Having battled through several rounds of qualifying over the past nine months, the couple – who play at Woburn Golf Club – will be whisked off with 37 other UK finalists to Dubai for seven nights of luxury at the world’s tallest dedicated hotel, the five-star JW Marriott Marquis.

They will then compete at the world-renowned Els Club, the course designed by 2012 Open Championship winner, Ernie Els.

The pair qualified for the final after winning a regional final at The Marriott Forest of Arden. It’s the third time they have qualified for the event.

“I honestly didn’t think we would get this far,” said Tracey. “The competition has been really great fun and we’ve had the opportunity to play some fantastic local golf courses, and meet some lovely people.

“We will know the course better than anyone else in the event, so I think we have every chance of doing well and winning the whole thing this time.”
