Alfie brings home bronze for Bucks

Steeplechaser Alfie Yabsley took a fantastic bronze medal for Buckinghamshire in the England Schools Championships up in Gateshead.

The MK athlete set a Buckinghamshire Schools record over 1,500m of 4:25.03 on his way to third, knocking two seconds off the previous club record.

Hazeley Academy student Ethan Wiltshire was just seven centimetres from taking bronze in the long jump as he cleared 6.03m, while James Ericsson-Nicholls improved his hammer PB to 49.75m, good enough for fifth.

Jamil Hassan was fifth in the triple jump (13.58m).

Maxwell Brown matched his PB of 11.12s in the 100m semi finals, while Ebony Carr ran 12.21s in her 100m semi-final, but finished fifth in the final, running 12.52s.

Sade Ross, from St Paul’s, threw 12.76m in the shot final to come eighth.
